5 Benefits of a Home Business

It’s a fact… small businesses and entrepreneurs are the backbone of the American economy. Without small businesses, America would not be what it is today.

And at the forefront of small business growth are “home business” owners. People who are running all sorts of businesses from the comfort of their own home.

So what makes having a home business so appealing?

Here are 5 major benefits of having a home business:

1) Low startup cost.
About half of “home-based” businesses in America were started with as little as $5,000. It’s easy to make part of your home an office, so you don’t have to rent office space. You can even use your garage, if you’re in the business of making things. Get a computer (if you don’t have one already), a business license and a few other small extras, and you’re in business.

2) High earning potential.
Depending what your specialty, talent or education is, you can make an equal or better living than you would working for someone else. Recent statistics show that around 20% of home businesses earn between $100,000 and $500,000 a year.

3) No rush hour traffic.
For most home businesses, when you wake up and step into your office, you’re at work! So you don’t have to deal with rush hour traffic ever again. And if what you do does not require you to go out and do sales calls or service customers at their location, you’ll save every year on travel costs including gas, tires, car repairs and car insurance.

4) You are the boss.
Don’t like having a nasty boss telling you what to do all day? Think you can do things better than your boss? Then you may be a perfect fit for having a home business, where YOU are the boss. Now that means all the responsibility is on your for your success. But you can still have employees that either work from home, or work at your home, to help you with the work

5) Doing what you love.
For many, getting a job only means getting a paycheck every week. Most people hate going to their job every day. And many hate what they do for a living. When you’re a home business owner, the idea is to create a business that focuses on what you love to do, or what you do best. This way each day you work is not really like going to work at all.

So if you’ve been thinking of becoming an entrepreneur, and having your own home business, I say “go for it!” You can always start out small, while you still have your day job. And as you grow and eventually make more than you do at your job, you can kiss that job goodbye forever!
