5 Home Repairs Not To Put Off

If you are like me when it comes to home repairs, you might think they will fix themselves magically… that’s according to my wife 🙂

Putting off these 5 home repairs could cost you big bucks later on…

1. Leaky faucets.

Even if you have a slow drip on one of your faucets you could be wasting 7-10 gallons a day. A bigger leak could be 30 plus gallons a day and will cost anywhere from $20 to $200 extra a year.

2. Leaky toilets.

Besides the irritating sound of a leaky toilet all night long, realize that you could be flushing away as much as $2000 a year, on top of your normal usage.

3. Caulking.

If you have been in your house for more than 5 years, you may have noticed the caulking is coming loose around sinks, countertops and tubs. Caulk is cheap and easy to apply, but if ignored, moisture will seep in and could cost thousands in wood, drywall and other repairs.

4. Carpet cleaning.

Keeping your carpets clean and in shape will extend the life of your carpet. Don’t do the proper maintenance, and you’ll have to replace your carpets more frequently. And you know how much that costs.

5. AC filters.

Regular cleaning of your air conditioning filters can reduce your utility cost by $100 or more a year. Experts recommend cleaning them once a month, but you should read your owners manual for more specific instructions for maintaining your AC units.
