Can Your Facebook Post Hurt Your Credit Score?

Did you know that someone other than your friends are checking out your posts on Facebook? It’s true.

Believe it or not, the Credit Bureaus are now scanning through your social posts, looking for data.

According to Bloomberg… Equifax, Experian, PayPal and Intuit have begun practices that see if social posts can help prove identities. And in some cases, detect if customers are lying about their finances.

If you use Facebook, Twitter, Yelp or Pinterest… your public posts could be used by these companies to verify your identity, to investigate fraud, and for evaluating whether to give you a loan or not.

These companies look at your status updates, pictures and check-ins to help them monitor your financial health.

So next time you decide to spend some time on Facebook, think again. Always be smart when it comes to social media, and always think things through before you make a post online.

You never know who is watching.
