Finding Unclaimed Savings Bonds

In my last post, I helped you find lost money that is being held by the state.

Next, I’ll show you how to search for missing or forgotten money with the feds. We’re talking about Unclaimed Savings Bonds.

Did you know that there are billions of dollars in unclaimed savings bonds? It’s a fact. Each year, more than 25,000 savings bond payments are returned to the Department of Treasury as “undeliverable.”

Do you or someone you know own savings or treasury bonds that have matured, and are no longer earning interest? Well you could have unclaimed bond money just waiting for you!

You can find out for free on at TreasuryHunt.gov.

All you need to do is enter your social security number and start searching. If you don’t find anything, keep checking back, as they are continually updating the database.
